March 2015 Makeup Faves ♥︎

Here's another monthly makeup favourites post! Will be talking about some of my favourite makeup products for the month of March! I know it's already almost the end of April and yet I've not completed writing this post. Sometimes I just forget what are the products that I've been using. Hopefully I can remember what I've been using for April.

Anyway, let's get on with the post! For the month of March, I've been loving mostly Etude House products. Most of the items in my makeup collection are from Etude House actually. Haha.

The Face Shop Design My Eyebrow 04 Brown & Etude House Drawing Show Brush Liner in Black

I got this while I was on my holiday in KL last year. I haven't actually plucked my brows since nearly the end of last year so after plucking it, I decided to get this. I was planning on getting one from Etude House but all their brow pencils were sold out so I headed to The Face Shop to get it. Thankfully, they had it and it was even on sale! I got this product for I think about SGD $6.

I have been using it often in the month of March before I had my bangs. I like how natural it looks. Usually people would style their brows to match their hair but I don't need to use any extra product like brow gel. I mean also because I don't have dyed hair. My hair is just naturally dark brownish.

Unlike some other brow products I've seen people using, this one applies pretty smoothly and I don't need to use extra force. Also, it blends out easily with the screw brush that comes with it at the other end. (Photos of product below)

As for the Etude House brush liner... I've been loving it recently since I've gotten rather lazy to use my gel liner! The thing about gel liners is that you've to clean the brush after every use. So it actually saves a lot of time using a brush tip liner. Also, a brush tip liner is really thin and it can give you a precise line, especially if you're drawing a wing. (Photos of product above.)

I like how this brush liner is pretty waterproof as well. In the humid Singapore weather, it's pretty important to have waterproof products. You wouldn't want your eyeliner smudging all over the place ><

Etude House Color Lips Fit

The next product I've been loving in the month of March is Color Lips Fit from Etude House! I've written a review on this product before and you can read it here!

I usually and mostly forget to apply anything on my lips in the morning rush. When I do, I make sure to bring whatever shade I'm using for that day along with me for any last minute touch ups.

Innisfree Bija Anti-Trouble Essence W

Next up is a skin care product! I got this as a recommendation from the Innisfree staff. I was using this Clean and Clear acne treatment cream but they stopped bringing it into Singapore so I had to find something new. At that time, Innisfree had just arrived on our shores so I decided to give it a try.

It's quite a gentle formula and it doesn't dry out my skin or cause any sensitivity. Apparently there's also a R formula which treat those painful red zits. Maybe I should try that out too since the weather is getting hotter and I'll be more prone to breakouts!

Etude House Give Me Chocolate Mint Chocolate

I got this nail colour over Valentine's Day but I haven't had the chance to try it yet. Finally got to try it in March and I'm quite pleased with it.

For some weird reason, the smell of this nail polish smells different. I don't know if it's meant to smell like chocolate but it does have a more pleasant scent than the usual nail polish smell. The strange thing about this nail polish is that it peels off easily. After 2 weeks, normal nail polish would just be chipping off at the corners. But for this one, if you pick at it, you can actually just peel it off in one piece!

Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos for that. It was pretty cool though.

That's all I have for March's makeup favourites! It's pretty late in the month, I know >< have been having quite a tight work schedule recently. Do stay tuned for more makeup posts! I recently just bought some new makeup products and (hopefully) I'll be doing up reviews them! Stay tuned~

Status Update ♥︎

What I've been up to
Just a quick blog post to update my blogging status. I've tried to blog more often and have more posts up frequently but because of the increase work load at work, I'm unable to finish my paperwork while I'm at work so I've been taking home work to do ㅠㅠ

I know it's not advisable since I should maintain a work-life balance but I don't want to end up being to behind on work stuff as well. Heh.

Anyway, as much as I can I'll try to finish up the posts I've been working on. I've a March makeup favourites posts coming soon! As well as new songs recommendation posts! Hehehe.

In the meantime, you can contact me through twitter (@almostkoreanme) or leave a question at ask.fm/fidtastic ! You can basically ask me anything related to anything Korean! I totally don't mind sharing my knowledge.

Also, do check out a close friend's blog! She blogs about makeup and food! So if you're from Singapore or planning a trip here, do check out some delicious places to go! http://www.jankliciouz.blogspot.sg/

Jukebox #31 Love Girl ♥︎

Back with another song recommendation! Every week I take a long time deciding which song to write about. There are many songs out there that I enjoy listening to.

This week's featured song would be Love Girl by CNBlue!

I've always liked CNBlue! Been following them since their debut. I'm not like super into them like how I like Super Junior but I like them so I do listen to their songs. I like their music and it's pretty different from FTIsland. I'm not sure how to describe the difference in technical music terms though.

In bands like these, it's usually the lead vocal that gets the most parts and the poor drummer sitting at the back barely gets any screen time during live performances. I'm guessing people know CNBlue mainly for Yonghwa. But recently, I think the other members are coming out to make a name for themselves too. I think because they're all pretty talented in writing music therefore they're able to produce and write nice songs.

Love girl was a part of CNBlue's First Step album that was released in 2011. So it's been awhile! I didn't know that they made an MV for this song so I did watch it before writing this post. I thought it was pretty cute but oh so creepy at the same time. They're practically stalking the girl and everything! Hahaha but I guess most of you wouldn't mind having CNBlue or your favourite boy groups jump out from a poster into your house right?

So, do take the time to check out this song! Will be back with another song recommendation next weekend! Stay tuned! ^^

Drama Discussion: Hyde Jekyll Me ♥︎

The latest drama I've watched, Hyde Jekyll Me! Shall try to complete this post as soon as possible! Especially since I've just finished watching this drama! It would be better to complete this post before I forget the important details!

Let's get started!

So basically, I didn't start watching this drama when it first aired. I started watching when it aired about 14 episodes. While I was on leave from work, I started watching it and completed watching 14 episodes in 2 days. This is what serial drama watchers can do >< be afraid, be very afraid...

Note: I'll try my best but I can't guarantee there won't be any spoilers. Read with caution. I did warn you.

The Characters.

Goo Seojin and Robin are both played by Hyunbin. The story revolves around Goo Seojin as he has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). DID is a mental illness in which Seojin created Robin. He created Robin to save and protect people after a traumatic experience he had from his past. Honestly, I do feel the role of Seojin was pretty type casted since Hyunbin did play a similar role in Secret Garden. But I did think he did pretty not bad for the role of Robin. Since Robin was totally opposite of Seojin. I could believe they were different so that means he succeeded.

Somewhere along, Robin falls for Hana. Jang Hana is played by Han Jimin. Jang Hana, well I'm not sure what to say about her character. She's sort of has a stubborn but also strong personality, it's not your typical Korean girl kind of character. However, there were times I got annoyed with her character. Annoyed with her indecisiveness.

A supporting character that stood out would be Seojin's personal assistant, Youngchan, played by Lee Seungjoon. As he dealt with the different identities of Seojin on a personal level, it was quite funny to see how he interacted with both of them. The difference provided some sort of comic relief at certain points of the drama.

The Plot.

I was deciding which drama to watch when this story line caught my attention. Although it was similar to Kill Me Heal Me, I decided to start watching this first.

I've watched a few CSI or Criminal Minds episodes featuring this illness and it just seems quite difficult for me to picture. Of course, after watching this whole drama, I really was wondering if this illness was really like how it was portrayed in the drama. Nonetheless, I was curious to find out how the drama would end, therefore I continued watching.

To me, it seemed quite predictable. There were certain scenes that I expected and was totally not surprised when it happened. But I mean there are a few ways a story line like that can go and it's usually quite cliche. In hopes of a happy ending and the need to know what happened in the end, that kept me watching.

I quite liked that Seojun ended up friends again with his childhood friend. I kind of wished that would happen while I was watching the drama. Like I've mentioned, it was quite predictable so I expected that after the climax of the drama, there would be one more problem to solve. Ultimately, in all such dramas with mental illnesses, the ending would involve some sort of solution. See, rather predictable but still interesting.

Do I regret watching this drama? Nope. I quite liked how it turned out. Although there were some questionable parts, I think that's unavoidable. There are always scenes that make you go, 'huh?'.

There was this one scene that confused me quite a bit. I didn't even realise Hana's friend found out about Seojin's mental illness? She was comforting Hana when Robin was slowly fading away. That made me a little confused. If someone could so very kindly shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it!

The Ending.

I actually quite like the ending! Usually I tend to have quite high expectations for the endings and most of the time the ending doesn't really match my expectations. I had pretty high expectations for the ending of this drama as I was wondering how they could possibly tie everything together and end it nicely. I really dislike endings that still leave the audience with unanswered questions.

I guess how this drama ended was pretty close to what I expected and hoped for. To me, it was still slightly abrupt and had me going, "like that also can" but at least we weren't left hanging and everything ended happily.

I just found it a little annoying when Hana refused to accept Seojin and insisted she only liked Robin until like the very end. Then again, if she did have feelings for both of them, the story line could have expanded and maybe even more questions would have resulted. So I'm glad that it ended how it ended.

That's it for this drama discussion on Hyde Jekyll Me! Hope it'll be a drama that you'll watch too! Feel free to leave comments with your thoughts or drop your questions by click on the ASK button above! Till next time, I've more dramas to watch ^^

Joomal Jukebox #30 Ice Cream Cake ♥︎

The 30th song recommendation post! Yay! It's indeed quite a milestone!

I started this weekend song recommendation series on my blog to recommend songs that were receiving lesser attention than others. Most of the time I do write about the less popular songs but sometimes I do recommend songs that I really enjoy listening to.

This week, I'm recommending a song I can't seem to get out of my head! Red Velvet's Ice Cream Cake.

Last week, I created a poll on my Google+ page but unfortunately it didn't receive as much response as I hoped for, so I guess I'll just return to writing about whatever song in whatever order. Hehe. Of course, if you do have suggestions or comments, don't hesitate to let me know!

Anyway, let's move on!

The reason why I've decided to write a post on this song is mainly because I can't get this song out of my head! It's crazy nice! Plus it's like a song that you'll find yourself unconsciously singing to. I've been humming to it continuously ever since I've heard it. I even sang it at work which of course got me weird stares from my kids and one even asking for some ice cream.

I was quite surprised with Red Velvet's comeback this time. I mean from the popularity they've gained from Happiness I don't know why I wasn't sure that they would do well this time. Maybe I wasn't too interested at first because Happiness did well and it would be difficult to match up with that standard. Also with the addition of Yeri, I wasn't expecting anything much. But yes, this comeback is pretty awesome!

There were some reports that I've read analysing the success of SM girl groups. They've seemed to realise that the way to earning money is not from male fans but instead female fans. So through portraying a confident image instead of a sexy concept is the way to attracting more female fans and therefore earning more money as it's the female fans that are willing to purchase albums and merchandise. I think there is some truth in this. I really do like Red Velvet's confident image. I think they tried it out with f(x) and they received quite a lot of attention as well. Girl's Generation has more of a confident image as well as compared to a sexy image. That must be the reason why they're quite popular.

On the whole, I liked their comeback! I sat through their whole broadcast on Naver, Ice Cream TV. They're quite a nice group to watch. They seem quite honest and they don't make me cringe with fake laughters or hair flips. I hope they aren't a project group and they'll continue to have cool songs. I think the members are pretty all rounded, they can both sing and dance.

Oh dear, I think I've written quite a lot in this post. Hope it doesn't bore you! Do stay tuned for next weekend's song recommendation! Managed to churn this out while doing some paperwork for work as well. Hehe. Don't forget to like this post and follow this blog for more!
