Jukebox #65 마녀가 된 이유 ♥︎

Shall just jump right ahead into this week's song review. It's NS Yoon G's 마녀가 된 이유 (Reason to become a witch). I'm not surprised that this song received lower votes as well I didn't think NS Yoon G is that popular.

I think NS Yoon G is pretty talented. I can't remember how I found out about her or got to know her. I think it was through the song 또 보고싶어, probably heard it while watching MuBank. She's good singing live. That's usually something that sticks for me. I pay more attention to those that can sing well live. She was probably on some of those english speaking programs as well.

You could probably classify this as another case of bad management? Frankly, she hasn't gotten very popular with any of her comebacks. Maybe 또 보고싶어 was quite popular but I don't think it won an award. I think people know of her but don't pay attention to her. Usually it's the company that does the promoting and marketing so if she's not popular it's usually mostly because of her company although there could be other reasons as well. It could be also because she doesn't garner attention, she changes concepts quite frequently. I think her confident concepts probably suits her the most but recently I think she's going for the sexy ones. I guess usually people think that would succeed.

I guess it's pretty safe to say that this artist and her songs need more attention and therefore have ended up in my list of songs to review/recommend. Do take some time to check her and her songs out! ☺

Hope that you've enjoyed this week's song review! There's one every weekend. Lol. So do check back to find out what other Korean song or song I've reviewed.

On a side note, I've been listening to this Taiwanese/Korean singer Bii recently. You might see some of his songs in the twitter polls soon.

Jukebox #64 어린왕자 ♥︎

Seems like even before I can write another post, the weekend is here again! Probably the posts that go up most regularly would be the weekend Jukebox posts. I don’t think I’ve missed many of these posts and they do go up every weekend.

Anyway, for this week’s review we have Super Junior Ryeowook’s The Little Prince! This song was actually rather popular, in fact it won the twitter poll two weeks in a row. I did mention that I would review songs that aren’t so popular but I guess this song (and a few other new hits) is an exception. Hehe.

I’m quite glad that Ryeowook is finally made his solo debut! I was wondering when he would make his debut since Kyuhyun already released two solo albums. It’s about time another member gets his own album. I’m expecting that Yesung would make a solo debut soon too especially since he’s discharged from the army and all. It would make perfect sense to promote him when the other members are serving their army time.

I think I’ve mentioned it countless times before that I really like ballad songs. It’s quite difficult for me to dislike a slow soothing song like this with good vocals. Haha. However with ballads, it’s rare that it’s a happy song. It’s always a little gloomy and sad. The Little Prince too is of that nature. The lyrics speak of someone hoping to have a loving relationship with someone else unfortunately isn’t able to have that kind of relationship. And uses the words of The Little Prince to comfort himself. (I didn’t read The Little Prince so I can’t comment if that’s what the book says.)

On the whole, I think the whole album is worth listening too as well. That’s the thing about solo albums, the songs really brings out and showcases the singer’s vocals. Rarely they would include songs that doesn’t suit the singer’s vocals.

That's it for this week's song review! Do take time to head down to twitter to vote for next week's song review!

Innisfree: The Green Tea Seed Cream ♥︎

The first makeup post for the year! Nothing better than to start the year with a good skincare product! I have been using this product for slightly more than a month and it's been great!
Innisfree
The Green Tea Seed Cream

I have watched many monthly favourites on YouTube featuring this product. I recommended it to my sister and she has been using this product for some time. She used this during winter and it was able to keep her skin hydrated.

Here's a description of the product from the Innisfree site:
Antioxidant-infused cream made with Jeju green tea seeds for deep hydration and nourishment.
A moisturizing and nourishing serum containing eco-friendly Jeju fresh green tea and green tea seeds More moisturizing and refreshing than ever before!
I finally decided to get this product after my previous moisturiser ran out. I just went ahead with this product without trying a sample first. My skin has always been quite alright since they use natural ingredients.

My Thoughts

I initially wanted to get the regular sized one but the lady at the counter recommended me the large tub as it would be cheaper. So I got the 100ml tub for around SGD $45. I didn't expect it to have the Christmas design so that was a bonus ☺

The first thing that caught my attention after applying this to my face would be the really pleasant scent and also the texture of the product. I like that it does feel rather thick but it isn't sticky and it evaporates quickly so that it doesn't feel uncomfortable at all. Especially in a humid country like Singapore, sticky lotions are a no-no for me.

I tried shaking the container and to my surprise, the cream doesn't move at all. I guess that shows how thick the formula is. It's of a pretty good texture to use in the morning before applying your makeup. Some lotions are too watery or too oily and thus not good for applying makeup on top of it. Although, I wouldn't recommend applying this on top of your eyelids before makeup as it'll cause your eye makeup to smudge easily. Then again, I do have oily eyelids, so it probably wasn't a good idea to have applied lotion there ☹

Something else I like about the green tea series from Innisfree is that it smells so good! There are some people that prefer scentless products but I do prefer products that smell pleasant. This lotion has a faint but pleasant scent which is another reason why I like it.

The Verdict

I would definitely recommend this product! It's pretty good for a basic lotion and it works well for my dry skin. I don't have to apply this every day and my skin doesn't look dry and patchy on days when I don't apply it. When my skin does get dry, apply this before bed and it'll be fine the next morning. Can't wait to see how this works in a different climate when I go on my holiday.

Hope that you've found this review useful! There are a few new products that I'll be getting next month, can't wait! Do check out this blog for more beauty product reviews!

Jukebox #63 Dream ♥︎

It's the weekend and you know what that means! Another song review!

This week we have Dream by Baekhyun and Suzy.

I thought it would be a popular song however it lost to the other song option with 15% of 40 votes. Then again, it would be the perfect choice for the Valentine's Day weekend!

So if you search up the lyrics, it's quite a love song with a hint of a some relationship. I'm not sure if that's the best way to describe it but it does give of that feeling. A little bittersweet? Haha. If you do check the MV out, I think the expressions Baekhyun and Suzy has kind of reflect that kind of emotions as well.

I'm not sure how they decided to do a collaboration like that. SM and JYP. It's pretty interesting considering how well the song performed, I would think they might try something like that again in future. Well, if they make money, anything is possible right?

Honestly, when I first heard the song, I loved it already. Firstly, this is totally my style of music, just listening to the intro itself was good enough for me to conclude that I liked this song. Secondly, it's Baekhyun! Totally not biased here but I really like listening to his voice, almost as much as I like listening to Kyuhyun's voice. Lastly, Suzy's vocals really sounds good with Baekhyun's. Although I must add that it's quite obvious Suzy is taller than Baekhyun. Haha. He gets the high chair while she gets the short stool.

Hope you do take the time to check this song out! It's really a pretty good calm song to listen on any occasion ☺ definitely highly recommended. Do check back next weekend for another song review!

Drama Discussion: Cheese In The Trap ;1st Impression ♥︎

I just started watching TvN's Cheese In The Trap over the weekend and I've decided to just write a first impression post before watching the last six episodes. When I'm done with this drama, I'll just add it on to the back.

Instead of the usual components of the full drama , I'll just write on the characters and what are my current thoughts. When the drama is over, I'll fill in the plot and ending. Since the drama has not ended, I don't feel like it's a good idea to write on the plot yet and obviously I don't have an ending to comment on.

Without further ado, let's begin this first impression post ☺

Note: This post will contain spoilers so those who have not watched the drama, you may not want to continue reading.

Characters

The first character we meet is Hong Seol, played by Kim Go Eun. She is well not really your typical Korean female lead. I think she's pretty but according to some reviews I've read people don't think so. Whatever it is, I think that she's portrays this awkward character of Hong Seol well. Hong Seol leads a simple life of school and working part time. We are introduced to the conflict she had with the male lead, Yoo Jung. She thinks that after challenging Yoo Jung once, he's been out to ruin her life. So she lived the first year of college in fear and avoiding Yoo Jung whenever she could.

The male lead is Yoo Jung, played by Park Hae Jin. Although he does look a little old for the role, he's supposedly to have gone to the army before returning to college so he's probably much older than the other students. As of now, I still can't form a concrete impression of his character. He appears very nice and caring but there's something darker to his character. I'm not sure if he's really evil or it's just how the writers are currently portraying him until more is revealed at the end. I'll write more when I've completed the whole drama.

The other two pretty significant characters would be Baek In Ho and Baek In Ha, played by Seo Kang Jun and Lee Sun Kyung respectively. It was revealed briefly how they are acquainted to Yoo Jung's family. Yoo Jung's father have taken them in and have brought them up so they're childhood friends. Baek In Ha continues to live off Yoo Jung's father's money whereas Baek In Ho doesn't want anything to do with that family as he believes that Yoo Jung caused him to hurt his hand and he can't fulfil his dream of becoming a pianist.

Thoughts

(First Impression)

It's quite an intense drama for a drama set in a college. There are a lot of underlying themes and messages that they've included. Maybe since it was adapted from a webtoon, the drama writers didn't have to plan so much and just follow what the webtoon writer had planned. Which would mean that unlike the usual Korean dramas where the writers write the script based on the responses, the entire story line would have already been decided upon before filming.

Also, instead of filming each episode a few hours before the airing time, I think Cheese in the Trap was filmed beforehand, probably even completing the filming before airing it. It winter in Korea but the actors were not dressed in winter clothes so they may have filmed it during fall.

I feel that maybe they had more time to think through each scene and how the drama would flow, it felt smoother watching it. It probably gave them time to do a proper job editing and since I don't know what to expect in the end, they might have planned for certain scenes to take place so that it gives viewers a certain impression. Like for example, how I'm confused about Yoo Jung's character. He can be so queer at times and so sweet other times and sometimes he's quite creepy also. Like a psychopath or sociopath? I hope they reveal it in the end.

Episode 10 is the last aired episode and we see that Oh Young Gon is still out to get Hong Seol or Yoo Jung. I'm curious to find out what would happen to him in the end.

I also want to find out what's up with Yoo Jung. I keep getting the feeling that something will happen towards the end of the show. I just hope that he really has feelings for Hong Seol otherwise that would really suck. I also hope that the misunderstanding between Yoo Jung and Baek In Ho gets resolved. I really hope Yoo Jung didn't really hurt Baek In Ho. That would suck too.

I could read the webtoon to find out the ending but I think that would take longer than 16 episodes. Haha.

Alright! These are my thoughts of the drama so far and although I'm not able to do a complete analysis of the plots and themes yet, I'll do that when I've completed the drama. I think with dramas set in a college, there are more themes and since there are quite a lot of characters in this drama, there are more things to analyse. It might end up turning into a spazz post instead of a proper drama discussion. Hahaha.

Hope that most of you are enjoying this drama too and are looking forward to next last six episodes!

Jukebox #62 하지마 ♥︎

It feels like I haven't reviewed a BAP song in the longest time. When this song came on, many memories about BAP came to mind and I was wondering what happened to them. I don't remember seeing them around for awhile so I decided to throw in this song as a choice for song review and sure enough, it didn't get enough votes to move onto next week.

So here's the song review for the week, BAP's 하지마 from their third single album.

Can't believe this song was released in 2012. It doesn't feel like it's been three years. How does time fly so quickly? In like Kpop years, this song is probably considered ancient considering the amount of songs being released every year. Not only that, there are so many rookie groups, it's totally hard to keep up.

Anyway, that's besides the point of this post. I think BAP was popular back in the day because they had promotions back to back and it would have been very tiring on the members. Whatever their company was thinking of, worked since their popularity soared. I guess BAP is quite a versatile group. They started out with strong natured songs like Warrior, Power, etc. Then they moved onto rather cutesy songs like Crash and this one.

Honestly, I've always been quite impressed with BAP as they sound good as a whole. Some groups despite having talented singers and rappers, they don't blend well when they're altogether. I think BAP does which makes it easy to listen to their songs. Maybe I'm picky on these things but it does matter to me. I'm not sure if it's even obvious to others. Haha.

Anyway, hope that BAP will be having more comebacks and hope to see them around more!

That's all for this weekend's song review! I've gotten the results for the next two week's song reviews so do stay tuned for those!
