So this begins a new series of blog posts on my trip to Korea! I'll try to include as much information and photos of where we went and what we did. But I'm not really a photo person so there may be more words than photos ><
12th June 2014.
Arrival. Check in. Viva Polo. Mouse Rabbit.
We left Singapore on a 1.40AM flight! It was pretty early but we would be sleeping on the flight so that didn't really matter. Since Korea didn't have much of a time difference, we wouldn't be jet lagged either.
We arrived at the Incheon International Airport at about 12.40PM KST. Vaneh and Liting were already waiting there for us. We met them and our taxi driver before heading to the place we would be staying for 2 weeks - Namsan Guesthouse 3.
For those new to Korea, Incheon Airport isn't located in Seoul. It's in Incheon which is just beside Seoul so it takes about an hour to get to the guesthouse which was in Seoul.
Namsan Guesthouse 3 is located in Myeongdong and about 3 minutes away from the subway station. I stayed at the exact same guesthouse 2 years ago and decided to go back to the same place this time. Of course, you could stay at a hotel if you wanted but places like guesthouses or even renting an apartment is cheaper.
Here's the entrance to our room.
The television area and somewhat luggage area.
Our mattresses. It's pretty thick and quite comfortable to sleep on ^^
It's a really cosy room and although it's possible to triple share, I think triple sharing would be quite a squeeze as there would almost be no space left for luggage >< There's aircon and heated water so it's actually quite a comfortable place to stay! Though there's no room cleaning service so we had to tidy up the room ourselves.
Here's the link to their website for more details ^^
After resting for a short while, we heading out!
Photo of us on the subway!
We first headed out to Viva Polo for dinner. Chanyeol's family's Viva Polo just to clarify. If I'm not wrong, it's a franchise so only one Viva Polo belongs to Chanyeol's family. It's not difficult to get to. Take the subway to Myeongil and exit through Exit 1, the restaurant would just be there.
This is how it looks from the station exit.
The stairs leading up to Viva Polo.
Inside the restaurant.
Chanyeol, Chanyeol everywhere!
We were greeted by Chanyeol's mum (or so we think it's her) and she was really very friendly. She kind of had the same ears as Chanyeol only that she was really cute and fun sized unlike Chanyeol. So we guessed that Chanyeol's dad must be really tall.
We ordered a total of 3 dishes. Baked spaghetti, a pizza and another plate of spaghetti. The pizza was recommended by one of the EXO members. It was written on a canvas that was hanging on the wall.
It was really quite delicious! Though a little to the salty side. I would recommend getting the cheese pizza and the baked spaghetti ^^
After dinner, we headed to Konkuk University to Yesung's cafe Mouse Rabbit! I've an interesting story to tell regarding our visit so do keep reading if you wanna hear it.
Konkuk university street.
We got a little lost on our way to Mouse Rabbit so we were wandering around the streets before we actually found the cafe. We had a portable wifi device so it allowed us to search for directions on the go. But of course, some of these directions from fans aren't very accurate so do prepare beforehand. Haha.
I don't have a photo of the cafe because... Yesung was there! Yes! WE SAW YESUNG!
We were actually taking photos of the outside of the cafe and people (fans) were actually staring at us. I didn't realize anything until Vaneh stopped and asked if that guy in a hat at the corner was Yesung. So we all stared and it turned out to be him! And of course we stopped taking photos after that.
Yesung's mum greeted us on the inside of the cafe and she helped us to look for a seat. It was crowded with people, mostly fans I think. She told us we could sit downstairs and move up when there's a table. So Liting and I got settled downstairs with the bags while Vaneh and my sister went outside to look at Yesung.
When they came back, Liting and I decided to go outside and look at Yesung too. But he stood up and headed into the cafe! So we walked up the entrance and Yesung was standing there at the sliding door! We walked up to the door and he looked at me and said, "Xiexie" !!! Hehehe. He probably thought I was a Chinese fan but that's alright since he spoke to me and everything.
Liting went downstairs to get Vaneh and my sister while I waited upstairs staring at Yesung. Yesung's mum was then motioning me to come and shake Yesung's hand but I replied that my friends were coming up and I was waiting for them. I should have just shook his hand then because I didn't get the chance to afterwards since Yesung left.
We didn't get to order the drinks from him but we got to order it from his brother. Hehe.
Caramel macchiato, Ice peach tea and Mocha!
Have always been impressed with the coffee in Korea. It somehow tastes better than what I normally drink. Sadly they don't serve sandwiches like when Handel and Gretal was still open. Yesung's mum's sandwiches were really delicious! Yums!
We stayed at MoBit till about 10.30pm before we headed back to rest. It was a pretty eventful first day in Korea. Hehehe.
Next up, day 2!
xoxo, Fid♥
