Already 2019? ♥︎

Can't believe it's already 2019? 2018 went by in a flash. There are no particular major incident that happened in 2018 aside from beginning my studies. Work and studies kept me busy the whole year!  That probably explains the lack of new posts. So what am I looking forward to in 2019?

Graduation!
The official graduation ceremony should happen in 2020 but unofficially everything should be done by mid August this year. Am I looking forward to graduation? Totally. That'll probably be the highlight this year.

Since I started my studies, everything has been a blur and I'm constantly rushing to complete everything. Many times I question my decision to take up this course and do it concurrently while working. But I do know that if I didn't take this course up, I would've totally regretted it and probably wouldn't be able to find such an experience again.

That actually pretty much sums up what's going to happen in 2019 for me. It may sound eventful, it's really mostly about survival and just getting through to August. Hoping that things will stabilise and settle down once more after completing my studies.

Here's to a great 2019!

What Have I Been Up To? ♥︎

2017 has been quite a year! In the blink of an eye, it came to an end and 2018 crept right up, without us knowing. As expected, I was not able to complete this post before 2017 ended. There are just so many things to sum up and there are also many new beginnings in 2018 to share. Where do I begin?

Work
Basically, my life has been revolving around work ever since I started working. I practically eat, sleep and breathe work. I know, it's unhealthy but at this age, building our career is somewhat our priority right?

I feel like I've worked very hard in 2017 and am about to work harder in 2018 as I'll be taking on new challenges and have lots on my plate. I'm not the best at everything but I'll try. I pray that I'll continue to remember that God is in control of everything and not worry too much!

It's been rather hectic but quite rewarding as well. Just a month into the year and I already feel like I've taken on a new perspective to things. There are just some battles not worth fighting. Sometimes it may be discouraging when you're faced with so many challenges at once but after overcoming them one by one, it suddenly doesn't feel so bad anymore. I constantly remind myself that if I feel that I'm having a bad day, someone else probably is having a worser day. So I just have to face it.

As I take on more challenges, I'm also thankful that I managed to end up where I am today. I feel that at my current workplace I'm able to try out new things and make impacts in the lives of the people I'm working with and hopefully in the future make a bigger impact in the lives of more children and their families. I'm not sure where this job will take me but I hope to make a difference somewhere some day.

Studies
Three years into working life and I'm embarking on another new learning journey! I'll be beginning my Masters course in the first quarter of 2018. I'm actually quite nervous to be starting school again. I was fine initially but after attending the orientation and meeting my prospective classmates, I began to wonder if I'd be able to do it...

But I'm still looking forward to the experience. If I don't try, I'll never know if I'll be able to do it or not. Besides, if I don't do it now, when else will I find the drive to want to study again?

Life
Although I was very busy in 2017, I do feel that I had enough time to rest and go on a few holidays. Pretty good in term of work-life balance. We visited Korea in March and went to Manchester and London in July. Oh! We had the chance to go to Bangkok too, over the Teacher's Day break. It was a good treat.

It seems like 2018 will be a really packed year! It might be another challenge to maintain a work-life balance but I'll definitely try.

My idea of work-life balance is occasionally going out for dinner with friends or maybe just chilling with my laptop watching some Korean dramas. Not sure how often will I get a chance to do this but hopefully I'll be able to make time.

I finally understand why people say you don't need to have many friends but just having a group of close friends is sufficient. When you're really busy, you'll be able to see who are your real friends. There'll always be those friends who will make time to meet up and even though we haven't met in a long time, we're still able to chat as if we meet up all the time.

With that, I'm thankful for those friends. You know who you are ♥

It's just the beginning of 2018 and I don't know what will happen through the year. All I can say is... Bring it on!

What's to come in 2016 ♥︎

As per usual, at the beginning of every year, we tend to make new year resolutions and goals for the year ahead. So I thought that I'd do something like that for this blog. It's something like an update post of what's to come in 2016 too!

2014 was the year that I decided to try out blogging about different things instead of just reflections. In 2014, I posted 113 posts. Whereas in 2015, I've only posted 83 posts. Haha. Well, working life just takes a toll on a person so I wasn't able to post as often ☹

In 2015, I started to focus more on writing about beauty products and giving more frequent reviews. Especially on newer products. Hope some of those posts were beneficial! Not only that, I continued writing on my 2014 Korea Trip and weekly song reviews. Also, not forgetting the occasional drama reviews too!

That's was pretty much the post plan I had for the past year and mostly only the weekend song reviews were posted most regularly.

In 2016, there wouldn't be much of a change in terms of blog content. There'll still be the usual weekend song reviews, beauty product reviews, occasional drama reviews and sometimes even food reviews!

My blogging schedule would mostly be towards the middle to the end of the week and I'll try not to have two posts on the same day. You'll know to look out for new song reviews on weekends and the other posts will be published most likely on Thursdays or Fridays.

Also, I've somewhat changed the format of how I choose song for the weekend song review posts. I've tried it out for some months and I seem to think it works the best. I used to just press the shuffle song on iTunes and see what song pops out. But after a few weeks, the songs would start repeating itself so then I discovered the poll function on Twitter. The poll will be made available for voting for about 48 hours every weekend. However, the song with the lower votes will be reviewed. That's because originally the song review series is meant to introduce or recommend songs that aren't so popular.

I'm probably going to try my hand at writing some book reviews too! Maybe I'll start of with children story books? ☺

Lastly, there's a Coming Soon tab on the top of the page.

Where you'll find the latest posts and upcoming posts.

That's all for this short update! Hopefully it provided interested readers with what's to come in 2016! Feel free to leave comments if you have any questions and suggestions! Have a great 2016 everyone!

Update on Monthly Makeup Favs ♥︎

The purpose of this post is to update whoever who reads my monthly makeup faves posts. I won't be writing those monthly makeup faves posts for the time being as I've realised that it's rather repetitive and I don't have many new favourites. I stick to the same few products till they run out. Which in this case would make a makeup favourites post rather irrelevant.

So instead of monthly makeup faves, I'll be writing more product reviews. As the quote above suggests, I've been buying a lot of new makeup products. Some of these products, I haven't been using them long enough for them to make my favourites list or these products aren't that good. I'll try to be as honest as possible and hopefully you'll be able to look forward to such posts.

Do keep a lookout for more beauty posts! I'll try to post at least one every week! I really do have a lot of products to review and share. Hehe. Till then...

Changed URL: AlmostKoreanMe --> FidFieFoFum ♥︎

No longer almostkoreanme, now fidfiefofum

Hi guys! I've been thinking about making this change for some time and finally it's happening! I've been using almostkoreanme for around a year or two now but I thought it'll be good to change it to something close to the heart and also something that the general public can relate too.

Why?

The idea behind the name almostkoreanme was that I would be writing a lot on well... Korean related things. Although I do write mostly about Korean things, I do also write about other things that are not related to Korea, be it beauty, music or even food.

Why fidfiefofum?

Fidfiefofum was something that my sister came up with. I liked how it sounded! It was actually inspired from the story Jack and the Beanstalk. The part where the giant goes, "Fi Fie Fo Fum, I smell the blood of an English man..." something like that! It is also pretty relevant to my job as well since I work with children so I thought that this new handle will be a perfect match!

What to expect in the future?

There won't be many changes in terms of what I'll be blogging about. I'll still be blogging about music, Korean dramas and makeup. However, I'll be writing more about makeup or beauty related items and not only that, I'll be trying out food blogging! I do enjoy eating and I do try out new places here and there so I thought why not just write about my experience while I'm at it! Occasionally, I might even write about my recent favorite children's story book for any interested parents out there. I collect makeup but I do also have my small children's book collection. Hehe.

I may not be an expert blogger but I do hope some of these posts will interest you! So here's my short update for now! Do look forward to more interesting posts in the future!

Daehanminguk 2014 Day 7 ♥︎

18th June 2014.
Myeongdong, Sukira (KBS Building).
Details of our trip are starting to get sketchy by now but I'll try my best to give an accurate recount of what we did and also to provide useful tips and advice!

If I'm not wrong, this was the day we tried to locate Eunhyuk's cafe, then known as Tous Les Jours. Unfortunately, we arrived in the area but it was too near closing time so we decided to hop into a cab and head to Yeouido for Sukira instead.

I don't think we did very much on Day 7. We basically blocked out this day to just well... Shop. What's a holiday without shopping right? Hahaha. So since we stayed opposite Myeongdong, we spent the bulk of the day combing their streets and emptying our pockets.

We probably started the day out late since we stayed out pretty late the day before, waiting outside the SM Building. If you've not read about our experience, do check it out!

As we started our shopping trip around Myeongdong, we stopped at Olive Young first! This I remember clearly because Olive Young was having a sale! Olive Young is something like a drugstore and in a local context, it's like Watsons. Sadly, I didn't manage to get anything there. But of course, I went crazy at the other road shop brands like Etude House, The Face Shop, Innisfree, etc.

We went back across the street to the side where we were staying on. In front of the subway entrance, there's this Korean restaurant that serves food at a pretty decent price. We ate here the most I think. Of course, we had Macs a couple of times too.

My all time favourite Jjajangmyeon!

Mandu!

Tangsuyok! Which is just sweet and sour pork.

After lunch, we headed to Lotte Young Plaza. It's a new mall that is catered for the younger crowd. It's actually a departmental store I think but selling more... well... fashionable stuff. We went there basically for the SM Popup Store and also StyleNanda.
Address: 81, Namdaemun-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul 서울특별시 중구 남대문로 81 (소공동)

Yes, we did quite a lot of damage at the SM Pop Up store. I can't remember what we got exactly but we spent quite some time there deciding what to get. Of course, we were happy with our purchases. Hehehe.

We then headed up to StyleNanda to check out their 3CE makeup products. We ended up getting a few items as well. You can check out the items I got and my thoughts on them here.

After leaving Lotte Young Plaza, the 4 of us decided to spilt up and do our own shopping around Myeongdong. I think we spent about an hour or so combing the streets and buying whatever we needed to buy. I went with my sister so we got some gifts for friends and family. And as usual, my sister got some stuff for herself on my tab. Hahaha. That's what older sisters do don't they? They pay for your things.

We met back at the guest house to drop off our things before heading to Macs for dinner! Macs tastes good everywhere!

I usually make it a point to try Macs in whatever country I visit, to like see the difference. In Korea, they have really good coke and fries. Hahaha. It's interesting how the coke is served in a plastic cup. So you have to empty the cup at the counter and separate out your trash for I'm guessing recycling purposes.

After dinner... Here comes the interesting part of our day!

We planned to drop by Eunhyuk's cafe Tous Les Jours before going to Sukira. Since my sister was a fan of Eunhyuk, it was kind of a must visit place.
Address: Digital-ro 26-Gil Street, Guro-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul. High End Building, Uunderground 5B1 Floor, No. 105
We took the subway and alighted at Guro Digital Complex station and when we got out of the station... We were feeling pretty lost. It was almost 9pm and we were no where near the cafe, plus the street was rather quiet as well. So we googled for the closing time of TLJ and sure enough, it closes at 9pm!

We stood by the roadside deciding whether we should continue to look for the cafe and try our luck, maybe it would still be open. Eventually, we decided to just catch a cab and head to the KBS Building because we definitely wouldn't make it in time before the closing time. We still needed to walk for some time from the subway station.
Address: 13, Yeouigongwon-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul 서울특별시 영등포구 여의공원로 13 (여의도동)
If you aren't taking cab, you can alight at the National Assembly Station and walk for about 15 minutes before arriving at the KBS Building. I've tried walking from Yeouido Station back in 2012 and it's definitely a further walk!

Usually if there are special guests then I think there would be a need to book a spot beforehand. Back in 2012, we were there waiting since about 5pm. There were already spots booked from the night before. I guess after the years, fans slowly stopped coming frequently and there weren't many fans gathered too.

So upon our arrival at the open studio radio, we managed to find a spot at the bench right at the back. It was good enough to see what was happening on the inside. I think we stayed all the way till the end of Sukira and we got to see Ryeowook leaving as well. He would exit by the lift lobby so fans would gather there to see him leave. I remembered a fan even brought her graduation gown in hopes that Ryeowook would congratulate her. Unfortunately he didn't. He seemed quite tired too.

That concludes our 7th day in Korea! Taking forever to complete blogging about our Korea trip but I'll try to finish it soon! Do stay tuned for posts on the remaining 7 days of our trip!

Status Update ♥︎

What I've been up to
Just a quick blog post to update my blogging status. I've tried to blog more often and have more posts up frequently but because of the increase work load at work, I'm unable to finish my paperwork while I'm at work so I've been taking home work to do ㅠㅠ

I know it's not advisable since I should maintain a work-life balance but I don't want to end up being to behind on work stuff as well. Heh.

Anyway, as much as I can I'll try to finish up the posts I've been working on. I've a March makeup favourites posts coming soon! As well as new songs recommendation posts! Hehehe.

In the meantime, you can contact me through twitter (@almostkoreanme) or leave a question at ask.fm/fidtastic ! You can basically ask me anything related to anything Korean! I totally don't mind sharing my knowledge.

Also, do check out a close friend's blog! She blogs about makeup and food! So if you're from Singapore or planning a trip here, do check out some delicious places to go! http://www.jankliciouz.blogspot.sg/

Daehanminguk 2014 Day 6: Experience Outside the SM Building ♥

Hey guys! Finally back with another post from my Korea Travel series!

I think I should be changing the titles to some of the previous blog posts I've written so do stay tuned for that. I've been blogging daily posts of my trip to Korea in June 2014, so if you're interested to find out what we did and where we went, do check those posts out!

So this is a continuation post from the Korea Day 6 post. I last mentioned that we arrived at the SM Building! We stayed there for roughly around 2 hours or so! I would say it was a pretty good day since we got to see so many SM artistes entering and leaving the building!

So basically we saw everyone on the list from Eunhyuk down to Shindong. It was totally worth it waiting outside the SM Building, if you ask me! I'll include a photo spam at the end of this post.

It was quite interesting how we came about to waiting around for such a long time. There was already a crowd outside the SM Building but it's nobody actually knows who's going to come or go. Everyone was just waiting aimlessly in hopes of seeing one of their favourite artistes.

I think one of the first few we saw was Eunhyuk. He left the building. After awhile we recognised a pattern. The cars that were coming to pick someone or dropping someone would park in a certain way. They parked a little crooked so that it would prevent fans from just rushing forward. So as soon as we saw a car turning in and parking at an angle, we would immediately get our phones ready and eyes peeled wide open to see who was it.

I can't remember much of the details since we didn't really do anything interesting except stand and wait around but of course, I definitely remember the moments where we saw the artistes.

Our sighting of Kangin was actually quite epic. I think we were just waiting around, I mean that's what we were doing the whole time. Then suddenly the security guy started shuffling people around, clearing the path for a car to turn in. It wasn't the usual car, it was a jeep actually. So, we were quite expectant. We were asking each other who's going to come out. So, finally someone did come out. It was quite funny because all 4 of us shouted, "KANGIN", at the same time! It was so loud that he turned around and looked at us. Hehehe. He's very handsome in real life. Seriously, so good looking!

I was really glad we got to see Kyuhyun twice. Actually thrice, counting the time after the musical 'Singing in the rain'. I wasn't expecting to see him as he still had his musical but seriously it was so coincidental that the day we were there, he didn't have any night performance. He came before the sun set and he left around 9 plus, just before we left. Hehe so glad to have seen him twice! I think at that time they were preparing for the 7th album and maybe he was preparing for his solo album as well. Hehehe I ♥ Kyu.

Donghae was really a cutie! At first we thought he had already left but I guess everyone saw wrongly. He came out and he was super friendly. He was waving to everyone and when he got into the car, he used his phone to wave to us while he was making a phone call. We couldn't see his face through the tinted glass but we saw his phone. Such a cutie!

Getting to see Chen was quite an experience as well! I don't remember what time we saw him but it was before the sunset. Yes, we stayed until the sun set. Hmm, how long did we actually stand outside the building! All of a sudden it feels like we were outside for longer than I can remember >< Anyway! Chen was leaving the building so before the car pulled up, the glass door opened and the fans standing in the front saw Chen waiting to leave the building. But because there were cars already parked in that small waiting space, Chen's car had to stop at the back and that meant Chen had to walk slightly further, giving us more time to see him. Hehe. Chen was really handsome in person! I think the other members have ranked Chen almost at the bottom when it comes to looks but really, he's super good looking in person, though somewhat short.

Every time we were thinking about leaving, some car would turn in and we would get all excited and wait a little while longer. I think that was the case for TaeTiSeo. We were already planning to leave then all of a sudden the crowd would stir and that would lead us to say, "Okay, let's stay for a little while longer". This time, it was TaeTiSeo leaving the building! So I guess it was pretty worth it staying a little while longer. What surprised us was that they're actually not very tall, the power of makeup and lighting. Tiffany and Taeyeon were actually quite petite but of course, they looked good in person just like all the other SM artistes.

That's all I can remember from that day. I think it was quite an interesting experience being able to see all the SM artistes. It's like the ideal Korea experience most fans would wish for so I'm glad that we had the chance to experience it!

Alright! The part you've been waiting for! Photo spam! The photos should be arranged in order of appearance or disappearance. Lol. Enjoy~

Goodbye 2014, Hello 2015 ♥︎

Indeed time flies! In the blink of an eye 2014 came and left. I'm still trying to register that it's 2015 now instead of 2014. Honestly, I barely remember what happened in 2014 as it was a pretty fast paced and busy year.

Of course in everything I do, firstly I would thank God and then reflect. It's not possible to learn from experiences or mistakes if there isn't a constant reflection process. I think I'm one who reflects and thinks a lot so do be prepared for a lengthy post! I didn't write a post like this on the first day of 2014 so I thought I should do one this year to nicely summarise the happenings and then begin the year on a clean slate.

The total failure to sit down and complete writing one post would mean that this post would probably not be published on the first day of 2015 but at least I started writing it on the first day. The start is always important, right? Lol.

Flight Plans 2014 ♥

Yahoo! Finally the time has arrived!

Just like every other year, my family would go on a year end vacation somewhere. This year, we are going to Bangkok and KL. Though it's the same two places as last year, I'm still totally looking forward to the trip!

It's a really well deserved break I would say! 6 months into working and I haven't taken a full break from work. The time has finally arrived and I get my rest and relaxation and whatever you call it!

I'll be back on the last day of this year so really I probably will see everyone next year ^^

I'll probably also be doing a lot of reflecting on this trip. 2014 has been such an eventful year there's just so many things to think about and just reflect upon. I don't know what 2015 will be like but I know it'll be awesome!

I don't know about tomorrow
I just live from day to day
I don't worry about the sunshine
Or when skies would turn to grey
I don't worry over the future
For I know what Jesus said
And today He'll walk beside me
For He knows what is ahead

If I have the time, I try to summarise 2014's happenings and list down my wishes for 2015. Of course most of my time and thoughts would be spent on thinking about work but at the same time, work is really rewarding.

Before I blabber on non stop about nothing really, I should get on with packing! I've not packed anything and we are flying first thing in the morning.

Oh dear me.

Work Talk #5 ♥︎

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Philippians 4:13)

I think I've a lot of things to think about and reflect on. I think like although I'm happy on the surface, there are many things I'm actually worried about. But then again, it's normal to worry cos I'm the type that worries. Hahaha. Not the first time I'm mentioning that I'm sure.

Firstly, the concert. I think this is the 3rd or 4th concert I've taken part in. Honestly, I'm always excited for these events but then when the event is over, I'm totally drained and I feel like I've aged. But nonetheless every concert is a good experience. As I think back and reflect on the recent one, I feel like I had a lot to learn. It's a little like, 'expectations versus reality' and there's this thin line separating the two. Sometimes we forget that there's that thin line and expect too much.

Anyhow, I strongly believe in children and their work. So I'll be proud no matter the outcome. But of course, they didn't disappoint! The show was great and everyone enjoyed their performance. I'm really proud of them and am really going to miss them when they leave :(

So...

The teams for next year have been announced. I'm quite thankful for my team. I was worried and all before but God always provides and there's a reason behind everything he does. So I'm actually looking at next year positively and I'm sure I'm able to handle whatever comes my way!

Looking forward to meeting the new kids and improving at what I do. Hopefully, slowly but surely, I'll be able to get better and get more confident with the experience I'm gaining. Although it's not always smooth sailing, I'm sure it'll be fine ^^

Actually, there are a lot of things I'm starting to think about. Mostly about what I want to do in the next few years. There's career progression to think about and also future studies. Surely, I'm not stopping at my degree. So I'll have to begin doing research on a suitable masters course. I've been thinking about taking a course on child psychology but it definitely doesn't sound easy at all. I don't know why I'm entertaining this thought but it always makes me curious as to why children would say something or do something a certain way. Hmm. I guess these are all things I've to pray about and think about some more.

Looking forward to a new beginning and hoping for a great 2015! It may sound early but the year starts early in this line of work. In fact, I might even lose track of when the year ends and begins because every year is just like a cycle.

Daehanminguk 2014 Day 6 ♥

17th June 2014.
Kona beans, Grill5Taco, JYP building, Cube cafe, Cube building, FNC building, SM building.
Day 6 of our Korea trip and we planned to go to all the cafes and places related to Kpop. It was supposed to be a slow moving day but we still ended up walking a whole lot! I guess that's something normal especially when you're in Seoul. People walk like everywhere!

As per usual, we woke up around mid morning and headed out. I honestly don't remember if we had anything to eat but we mostly ate at the same few places.

Our first stop was Kona Beans at Apgujeong! It's a cafe that was owned by the mothers of Super Junior's Kyuhyun, Sungmin and Leeteuk. But just this year, Kyuhyun and Sungmin's mums pulled out from the partnership.
Address: 13 Apgujeong-ro 42-gil (640-9 Sinsa-dong) Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea
We alighted at Apgujeong station and exited from exit 2. We walked quite a fair bit before arriving at the cafe. Of course, we stood across the road to take a photo before entering.

The cafe was surprisingly empty. There used to be photos of Kyuhyun, Sungmin and Leeteuk but now there were only Leeteuk photos left. We were deciding what drink to get and while doing so we took photos. As tourists, taking photos seemed like the basic thing. But then, we were told off rather rudely by the counter staff to stop taking photos and to buy a drink. She was really rude and she gave us like dirty looks. We eventually bought a drink and left, feeling rather upset.

We left the cafe and stood outside I think to open the drink and take selfies, not of the cafe but of ourselves when another staff approached us. He came from across the street, maybe from a smoke break or something. He told us, once again really rudely, that we should go inside. So of course, we just left. I've no idea what's up with the staff. It wasn't like that when I went there in 2012. There were people, fans and we could take photos. It was like totally empty when we went there. Totally. Empty.

After Kona Beans, we took the subway to Sinsa where Garosugil was at. I don't remember what exit we took but I believe there were signs in the subway station. Most of the time we really just followed the signs. Haha.

It was basically a street that has many fancy shops and cafes. It's not for those on budget.

We went there just because EXO went there to shop for Chanyeol's birthday present. We tried looking for the shop that Kris and Tao were shopping in but the shop fronts looked quite similar and we didn't want to walk into a store if we weren't buying anything. We did though, manage to find the hat shop that some of the members went to. I think we did take a photo outside the shop though I can't find the photo >< Countless of disorganised albums on Facebook. Sigh.

After walking from one end of the street to the other, we took a cab and headed to Grill5Taco! The outlet that Donghae owns.
Address: Cheongdam-dong 88-10 beonji Bo building, 1st Floor (서울 강남구 청담동 88-10번지 보빌딩1층)

We ordered a burrito, a taco and a double cheese quesadilla. I don't remember what burrito and taco we order but it tasted pretty good! Even the fries were quite delicious! The only thing I didn't like about the place was the oil smell. Thankfully, I don't think the smell stayed on our clothes.

By the time we finished lunch, I think it was already around 3 or 4. I can't really remember if we took the train or we walked but somehow we ended up at the area where many Korean entertainment companies were at.

Due to the lack of preparation, we probably ended up walking more than needed. But that's alright! Since holidays and trips like this are meant for adventures and well, getting lost. Haha.

We arrived at the old SM building first, where the huge EXO poster stood. So, of course, we took pictures. Though it was really difficult to get the whole poster! We would need to cross the road to do that. And even if we did, there were trees right in front of the poster -.-

It took us awhile to find the new SM building with the magic glass door that all the SM artistes walk through. Yes, it's probably quite obvious which company I favour, rather I favour their artistes.

We passed by JYP and Cube before arriving at our destination.

We spent I think around 30 minutes or so at the Cube Cafe cos G.NA and Eunkwang from BTOB were filming there! So we stopped and hung around to watch. Whoa, Eunkwang is really good looking in real life! Sometimes I think the cameras don't do them justice at all!

We hung around a little while longer to see if anyone else would stop by the Cube Cafe but unfortunately no one else did. But as we walked passed the JYP building again, someone came out! Baek A Yeon! We should have gone up to her and greeted her but by the time we realised who she was, she already disappeared round the corner.

Then, we continued on our journey to the SM building. We passed by the FNC building as well. But they have a huge gate and there weren't many people waiting around. But while walking there, a black van drove past us and the windows were down. My sister thinks it's a FT Island member. He winded up his window when he realised we probably weren't fans.

Finally, after much walking, we arrived at the SM building!

This photo was taken when the sky turned dark but just so you know, we stayed outside the building for almost 3 hours! Of course, our efforts paid off and have a lot of names to add to the list of people we saw that day!

I think since this post is already pretty long, I'll write a separate post on our experience outside the SM building! Hehehe. I think it's actually really depends on like the day that you choose to go though. I guess we chose a good day!

Stay tuned for more posts on our trip to Korea! Days 7 to 14 left!

Daehanminguk 2014 Day 5 ♥

16th June 2014.
Everland!
We decided to spend the whole day in Everland! What's Everland? Most people would have heard of Lotte World but not of Everland! In terms of convenience, Lotte World is more convenient as it's in Seoul itself. Everland on the other hand is on the outskirts of Seoul so it's more troublesome and difficult to get to.

Just like most of the mornings, we would have breakfast at our favourite Myeongdong station stall before heading out. This morning, we decided to takeaway 2 rolls of kimbap as the food at Everland wasn't cheap. Since it was a theme park, everything there had like theme park pricing.

So anyway, here was our breakfast. Or was it brunch? The details are fuzzy already by now ><

We had ddokbokki and odeng!

This trip was my second time going to Everland. I went there once in April 2012 and so it wasn't that confusing since I roughly knew the route there. But I think the route I took back then was no longer available so we went by another route. There are a few different routes you can take as stated on the KTO website. We decided to go by the Gangnam route as there was a clear description on the Everland Official Website.

Initially I was quite worried about finding the bus stop and kept referring to the map given on the website. Thankfully we didn't have any difficulties finding it especially since there was already a long queue at the bus stop. So we joined the queue and I think after 10 minutes of waiting bus 5002 arrived! Unfortunately we weren't able to board the bus. It was a long distance bus (the red buses) so people were discouraged from standing on these buses.

There was like a bus uncle at the bus stop in charge of the Everland bus. So he would make sure we were queuing and like tell us when to board and things like that. I'm not sure if he's there throughout the day but he was helpful and friendly. He told us that the bus fare would be cheaper with the T-money card. And the T-money card was something I recommended in the 'Useful things for Korea' post :>

So anyway, we finally boarded 5002 and got comfortable in our seats for the journey! It lasted around 40 to 50 minutes. If you are worried about which stop to alight at, fret not! There's the awesome in-bus announcement system and the announcement for Everland is, of course, in English! Plus, it the stop where most of the people alight. Hahaha. So that should be easy.

Sorry for the chunk of words! I'm trying to explain the journey in detail so it's easier for those who want to go there.

At the Everland bus stop, you have to take the shuttle bus to Everland! It's a shuttle so it really just brings you to Everland from the bus stop and back to the bus stop from Everland.

Finally, Everland!

The weather was super warm that day! So we were already perspiring when we got to the ticket counter >< We went to the international ticket counter as we had a discount coupon that we printed from the Everland website. Without any hassle, we were issued out tickets and Everland here we come!

What we saw when we passed the ticket counter.

We studied the map and chose the rides that were fun. Well technically I didn't ride anything cos I had motion sickness so I was the official bag sitter for the day. I honestly can't really remember what we did there already so I'll just let the photos do the talking!

If I'm not wrong this was the second ride that Vaneh and Liting went on. The first ride was a spinning disco something ride that my sister went on too. But after that my sister didn't want to ride anything else. Hahaha. What I liked about the rides at Everland was that each ride had a estimated waiting time displayed at the entrance.

I don't remember the order of how we went around the park but anyhow it's not that difficult to get around, all you need is the map :>

The magic viking at the children's section. It wasn't a big ride so my sister went on it too.

The rose garden for spring or summer?

The T-express! It's the most popular ride there and the whole ride is made from wood. I think Vaneh and Liting went on this ride after dinner cos the waiting time was too long in the afternoon.

Why I prefer Everland over Lotte World was the fact that there was a mini zoo in it as well! So we went to the zoo side to look at the animals. But of course we didn't spend too much time walking around as we went to see the animal shows! I think the animal shows are hourly.

Anyhow, moving on to the photos!

Was it a Racoon?

Kangaroos!

Pretty carousel in the evening~

The sister posing with her fav friends.

The huge tree display in the middle of the path somewhere near the entrance.

The night view and the last photo of Everland while we were leaving.

I think we left around 8-ish before getting to see the fireworks. We decided to leave early considering the long journey back. It would be easier to leave before everyone decides to leave together, then the shuttle would be crowded as well as the bus stop.

We waited quite some time for the bus to arrive. Once again we didn't manage to board a bus so we waited for the next one. We met some nasty Koreans as well. Maybe she just didn't really like foreigners or she was just a total B...... But anyhow! We made it back safely and I don't remember if we had supper (which was usually free ramyeon from the guest house) or headed back to our rooms straight.

And so here's day 5 of our trip! Look forward to the post on day 6! I'm sure most Kpop fans would be interested to find out who we saw on day 6! I'm actually quite surprised with our fangirl luck. Hehehehe. You may guess who we saw but I think it'll be quite difficult to guess everyone ;)
